John Adams became president in 1797. he was around 60 year old when he was elected for president. He was president for one terms. John adams ran for a second term but got defeated by Thomas Jefferson. As he was president, Thomas Jefferson was the vice president. John Adams was one of two peaple who had became presidnt to sign The Declaration of Independence. John Adams was the first president to live in the White House.
There are some problems John Adams faced while being president. One main problem was that he was expected to be as great as washington. Another problem was that France, Britian, and te United States were haveing some alliance problems. Somehow he appomplished preventing the war with France. The relations with france were very strained, mostly because France raided US ships and refused to negotiate. Instead of that they wanted to bribe. eventually John Adams was able to come to an agreement. as he was president he signed the Alien and Seditions Acts.
